Renal protection in immunoglobulin-A nephropathy.

چکیده
Sir, I applaud the timely reminder by Nagy et al. [1] that good control of hypertension can do much to ameliorate the course of immunoglobulin-A nephropathy. There are some good antiproliferative agents coming along. Only I wish to point out that we have forgotten [2] the potential of anti-thromboxanes [3], which will surely be synergistic to angiotensin-converting enzyme or angiotensin-receptor blocker inhibitors. After all, thromboxane A2 partly mediates the action of angiotensin II [4].

Report of a Case of Immunoglobulin A Nephropathy in a Patient Without a Family History of Kidney Disease
Introduction: IgA Nephropathy is the most common form of glomerulonephritis and the major cause of end-stage renal disease. Gross or microscopic hematuria is a common symptom of hematuria and occurs in less than 5% to 10% of patients with IGM with rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. The aim of this study was to investigate the diagnostic biomarkers of this disease after biopsy. Methods: IgA...
متن کاملUse of fish oil to treat patients with immunoglobulin a nephropathy.
This review describes the use of fish oil in the treatment of patients with immunoglobulin (Ig) A nephropathy. IgA nephropathy is the most common glomerular disease worldwide. It has a variable course and leads to end-stage renal disease in a substantial number of cases. Among the 4 published randomized clinical trials that tested the efficacy of fish-oil treatment of IgA nephropathy, 2 reporte...

AIM The purpose of this study was to explore whether mTOR/p70S6K1 signaling is activated in renal fibrosis of immunoglobulin A nephropathy. METHODS Seventy-two children with immunoglobulin A nephropathy were divided into three groups according to their clinical features and pathological grades. Six normal renal specimens were included in the control group. The expression levels of angiotensin...
متن کاملUrine Cytology: Useful Screening Method for Polyoma Virus Nephropathy in Renal Transplant Patients
Polyoma virus nephropathy occurs in 3% to 4% of renal transplant recipients, causing graft loss in 50% of cases. The objective of the present study was to explore the effects of age, sex, post-transplantation period and plasma creatinine levels on the polyoma virus infection in kidney transplanted patients. Urine samples were collected from 362 patients, centrifuged and microscopic slides prepa...
متن کاملA proton nuclear magnetic resonance-based metabonomics study of metabolic profiling in immunoglobulin a nephropathy
OBJECTIVES Immunoglobulin A nephropathy is the most common cause of chronic renal failure among primary glomerulonephritis patients. The ability to diagnose immunoglobulin A nephropathy remains poor. However, renal biopsy is an inconvenient, invasive, and painful examination, and no reliable biomarkers have been developed for use in routine patient evaluations. The aims of the present study wer...
